Keeping it clean

“Each and every company can make changes in the way they operate to become part of a collective environmental solution”
Managing Director - D.MacPherson.

At Metals and Plant Ltd environmental protection is regarded as an integral part of our operation and is considered by every member of our work force across the board. We carefully manage all our activities to reduce any potential environmental impacts to a practical minimum. We always strive to maximise the recycling potential on all projects and we aim to recycle in excess of 90% of demolition arising.

Our objective is to increase year on year the amount of material we recycle, to develop systems of sustainability and transparency, maintain our leading edge in technological advances in the latest plant/equipment and to develop and extend our Training Programmes. We continue to identify areas where reductions in commodities, consumables and waste can be achieved, also to continue to measure conformity and progress by frequent random Internal Audits of our Environmental Policy.

We strive to:
  • Meet or improve upon relevant legislative, regulatory and environmental codes of practice.
  • Develop objectives that target environmental improvements.
  • Incorporate environmental issues into the decision making process.
  • Develop healthy relationships with suppliers and contractors so that we all recognise our environmental responsibilities.
  • Educate and train staff so that they carry out their activities in an environmentally responsible manner.
  • Promote an appreciation of the company's environmental performance among customer, employees and the general public.
  • Maintain our company's high standard of no environmental enforcement action.
  • Review project paperwork systems both on site and in the office.
  • As a minimum carry out a bi-annual management review.
