Millhouse Public House
The careful dismantling and partial demolition of a 17th century listed building at the Millhouse public house in Worksop. Over time parts of the listed buildings roof had fallen in, which had left the stone gable ends and remaining roof structure in disrepair and in an unstable condition. With the A57 dual carriageway to the left of the property, access road / public house to the right and housing estate to the rear this posed significant risk to the general public, not only in the form of a further uncontrolled collapse, but also in how the building could be safely dismantled to leave it in a safe condition. Metals and Plant Ltd were contracted to remove four large trees, redundant fence line and then clear the site of all fly tipped rubbish to improve access/egress to site which would allow further work to take place safely. The remaining roof tiles, wooden roof structure and two stone gable ends were then carefully dismantled by hand and stored on site with a view of the dismantled materials being reinstated in the near future. Through months of liasing with all necessary council officials and detailed planning in relation to all surveys legally required (asbestos, ecological, environmental etc) to undertake a sensitive contract like this, Metals and Plant Ltd were able to as always bring the contract to it's safe, environmentally friendly and early completion.
